Natives of the Universe is a spoken word poetry album of 13 tracks aimed at amplifying the voices of socially, politically and culturally marginalized persons around the globe and a call for a more inclusive world without bias as to gender, race, disability or tribe.
Background
Contextually, it’s no news that the English parts of Cameroon has been in severe crisis since 2016. As a victim and a firsthand witness of this crisis, I’ve seen heads roll before my very eyes, I’ve seen injustice, rape, torture and all forms of human rights violations. These events simultaneously with the outbreak of war between Russia and Ukraine and other socio-political ills which has acted as a menace to world peace laid in me a burden; a burning desire to be a voice for people who suffer from the effects of a crisis which has little or nothing to do with them.
Thus, this album is born of a desire to stand, speak and defend people who are too vulnerable to do so for themselves. Tell the story of the grass in the battle field of elephants. That is why my album tackles the following themes: Indigenous rights, gender equality, free expression, peace, justice and nation building.
