After identifying his niche in the art world and gradually creating a name for himself in his home country, Cameroon. It is time for Penboy to hit the road, meet new people and cultures, and spread the gospel of Spoken Word across the African continent.
This year, Penboy will be touring four (Côte d’Ivoire, Tanzania, Ghana, and Cameroon) of the eleven African countries selected for the MobiArts tour, an annual project which was initiated in 2024 by Goethe Institute, to promote talent across Africa, through art in motion. This will be between the months of September to November 2025.
While it is Penboy’s first time to embark on the MobiArt project, he is not a newbie within the Goethe-Institut network. He created his mark amongst members of the network after winning the Goethe Decouverte Award in 2023.
So, what should you expect from Penboy on the MobiArt’s tour? As always, he will be delivering prolific, relatable and awe-inspiring performances of carefully crafted spoken word pieces that will leave old fans yearning for more, and new audience enamoured.
That’s not all! His performances during the tour are part of his new project, “Africa is no one’s property.” This is a project that celebrates Africa’s rich cultural heritage, challenges stereotype and inspires Africa’s new generation to be actors in the continent’s reawakening. This means that, the MobiArts program is more than a tour for Penboy. It is a journey of self-discovery, cultural exchange, and artistic expression, which amplifies the voices of Africa’s people and promotes a vision of a liberated and prosperous future for the continent.
